Here is Starr a gorgeous mini Poodle dressed in his go-to-church finest!
Many of you have seen my fabulous Poodles and heard about how remarkable they are. There are many more out there just waiting for their forever homes. Little Starr here was a rescued Poodle that was fostered by my friend Anne in Florida that assists with the Carolina Poodle Rescue You can just see the intelligent look and a desire to please. So many more like him are just waiting for a good family or person to take them home. They are so eager to love and be loved. Poodles are extremely intelligent and intuitive creatures. They are unlike any other canine that you will encounter.
Here is another great one just waiting for a forever home and being fostered.
Their coat is much more like hair than fur. This results in a hypo-allergenic coat that even most people with allergies to dog dander can tolerate well. Unlike other breeds, their coat will grow out very long like a persons hair unless it is trimmed. They are extremely loyal animals and need to be with their people most of the time. A Poodle would never flourish being tied to a tree or being kept in the backyard all the time. These incredible animals are trained to do many many, things. There is virtually nothing that a Poodle can’t be trained to do.

Harley rests in Anne’s backyard. He was adopted by her.
Poodles come in three varieties which are Toy, Miniature, and Standard. They come in an array of colors; Black, White, Brown, Cream, Silver, Blue, Red, Apricot, Cafe Au Lait and can be solid or brindle or tuxedo or Parti like Harley above. Unfortunately for a lot of Poodles, their color does not meet the strict guidelines of AKC conformation and they get cast aside. Only solid colors are acceptable in AKC conformation showing, but, a number of people who do obedience and agility love Parti’s like Harley. Little Starr above is what is know as a mismarked or bi-color, but, I think he is a handsome guy. Some historians believe that Parti Poodles were the original coloring for a Poodle and if you look at old art or books you will see many of them especially in Europe.

Blaze, a foster, relaxes in the sun.

Deuce was also fostered by Anne
Unfortunately people make impulsive decisions to buy puppies from pet shops and back yard breeders and then find themselves unprepared for the care of those pups as they grow. This is one of the places that rescue groups fill a great need. Can you imagine one of these beautiful animals being put to sleep in a shelter or left to wander the streets in search of food? Rescue groups often have to step in within a very short window of time to retrieve these guys and get them to a safe haven where they can be loved and receive medical care and hpefully find their way into a responsible person’s heart and home.
These animals are not for everyone. They require a person with a commitment to them as great as they give to their owners. They require regular grooming which many people choose to do themselves. Grooming can be done by a professional groomer, but, the owner needs to plan for that financial responsibilty. Poodles should be groomed a minimum of every 6 weeks. They also require a very high quality food and many owners feed raw. Attention is one thing that they demand. Do not even consider one of these guys if you only want a pet to be out in the yard. They NEED to be with their people and will wither if isolated. They also need to feel useful and have a job. Poodles do everything from hunt, to therapy work to cancer detection, entertainment, herding, and search and rescue to name but a few of their jobs.

A Thoughtful puppy.

If you think that a Poodle might be for you and you have no intention of showing in the conformation circuit, then you need to consider a Poodle rescue group. SPRING SOMEBODY FROM JAIL!!!!!
FOR MORE INFORMATION ON ADOPTION OF A LOVELY POODLE TOY, MINI, OR STANDARD PLEASE CONTACT A RESCUE GROUP. THESE ARE STRICTLY VOLUNTEER ORGANIZATIONS AND THEY ARE FILLED ALL THE TIME DUE TO THE CURRENT ECONOMIC CRISIS AND IT’S FALLOUT:

Please to not be offended if they interrogate you thoroughly. Their only goal is to insure that all of their charges find a responsible and loving forever home that they deserve. There is much more to this story and I will post about it again, but, for now if you have room in your heart and your home for love in a tuxedo or a parti outfit, then please, please call a rescue group and adopt a deserving soul. Please walk away from pet shops and back yard breeders as purchasing from them only encourages them to produce more when there are so many deserving souls waiting to go home.
